Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product? - Powerpoint

Question 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? - Blogger

Bauer Media is a European-based media company that would be the most suitable media institution to distribute my media product as it already distributes magazine brands Q and MOJO which is in my top 3 magazines which inspired and influenced my own final media product outcome. In addition, these magazines are also quite similar to my magazine 'NDI' as it has featured many independent artists. Therefore my magazine would be best distributed by Bauer Media who would hold a similar audience as Q and MOJO.

In addition, 'NDI' magazine promotes new, independent music which can address and attract a different audience to Bauer Media group. 'NDI' would be ideally distributed digitally as it is easier to share my media product's content globally through web 2.0. In addition, this would appeal to the lower age range audience my magazine has as the younger age group do not tend to physical magazine hardcopies. However, I think that additionally a small amount of 'NDI' magazine physical copies can also be sold initially at the start of each month and depending on the sales, the amount of copies in amount may increase according to the amount sold and the response of readers. My magazine could be sold in clothing shops such as H&M and in music and instrument stores (for example HMV would be a good place to distribute my magazine). In addition, my magazine would be available online on distributing sites such as Newsstand which allows consumers to easily order the hardcopy of the magazine.

My magazine will be circulated monthly as stated before as my genre is not exactly the most popular however with the content being delivered, the audience may peak great interest. In addition, well known to new uprising artists would be feature artists on my magazine, therefore there is a chance my magazine can compete with magazines such as Rolling Stones in time. Distributing my magazine monthly will allow the media institution and publishing company to review the performance of my magazine and therefore create feedback to help with distributing the magazine. 'NDI' magazine plans to allow readers subscription on the twelfth issue in order to commemorate reaching one year with 'NDI'. On the twelfth issue, the magazine will allow readers to subscribe on it's official website in order to be given further up to date notices on 'NDI' monthly releases.

Editorial Draft

First DRAFT of DPS Editorial

THE FEELING OF AN ANGST-FREE NEW MORNING
[190]
The descent of a new Indie Pop artist - Eli Blasse has swept the masses this morning, as recently announced: she has become the NEW Best Emerging Artist! This is the highest achievement a 17-year-old could get when she had only started off as a “vivid Indie Pop listener”. Need we also be reminded again, but not only has she been recognised for her music, the future of music could be in her hands! The revolution of Indie Pop music could rise as Eli has been working on multiple new songs already! We have spoken to her about what her future aspirations in the music industry would be and what her plans are for the short-term and long-term.

Eli Blasse walks into her studio with great confidence and in her favourite headphones and comfortable flat boots and her fedora hat. A bright and early, easy to sleep-in morning but Eli is always up and ready to work on her music. Of course she loves to sleep in but she says, “I’m too excited to compose new music, who wouldn’t want to be up when you can make music you love?”

Flat Plan

Analysis of Flat Plan

I think that I have quite a clear image for how I would like to structure my dps although it could possibly change once I get all of the parts together. Overall, I am open for change, especially if some things don't go to plan, such as if I don't use props and just focus on the model. I have also reconsidered the image to text ratio where instead of it being 60% image and 40% text, I may increase the percentage of the image ratio if I were to do something creative such as a snapshot connection of my model (where there would be multiple images of my model in different poses with relation to the topic being talked about).

Layout Sketch/Planning

First Draft - Intro paragraph

Innovatively challenging the genre, this artist has brought Indie Pop back to the top! Bringing a refreshing and unique representation of this rare genre and creating a huge visual impact. Indie Pop can never be the same after this new artists' arrival. There will definitely be a twist to come and we sure can't wait to see more of their music!

Image Ideas

The main image would preferably be a mid shot in order to emphasise the face which can be PS edited in order to bring in the conventional Indie Pop image and colours - by overlapping colours or images over the model's face.
Mise-en-scene of the model will include a fedora hat accessory which can initiate curiosity in readers as there will be possible low key lighting on the model's face which could create a mysterious mood and cause readers to feel curiosity and interest in the artist!
